Our Lady of Victory...

One of my favorite sites to visit is the Philadelphia Church Project, which, in their own words, "charts the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly in Philly's Religious Architecture" -- mainly in area Catholic churches. Having lived in suburban New Jersey and suffered with what can only be called intentionally uninspiring church architecture -- it's a joy to see how we used to do things. When our immigrant ancestors sacrificed to build these beautiful neighborhood cathedrals.


I came across this picture on their blog and of course it reminded me of the mantra of every CYO team back in the day just before you broke the huddle. I know Bob Hurley's teams at St. Anthony pray for her intercession before every game, and given our record this year it might be time for St. Joe's to bring back the practice ;-)
