SJU Alumni Appalachia Trip
I am writing you all to let you know about the St. Joseph's University Alumni Appalachia Trip scheduled for July 12-17, 2009. If you are interested, please send me a PM with your contact info so I can include you in my communications in the coming months. Here are the basics of the trip:
What- Habitat for Humanity (SJU Alumni Appalachia trip)
Where- Phelps, KY (we will take vans down from Philadelphia, about a 10 hour ride)When- Leave Sunday July 12th, return Friday July 17th after the work day (will arrive in Philly late Friday night / early Saturday morning)
How much- The trip costs approximately $400 per person which includes housing, transportation and food for the week. we have done fundraisers in the past couple years to help with the costs.
What we do- Our days are spent working with the Habitat staff on the housing projects that they have open at the time. Sometimes this involves new construction, sometimes refurbishing of damaged homes. No construction experience is necessary. Our evenings are generally spent relaxing, exploring the Appalachian valley region, and having a good time.
No prior experience with Appalachia as an undergrad is required and the trip is open to all SJU alumni, spouses and friends of the University. Let me know if you have any questions.
THWND and AMDG,

Rich Brennan, who supports nearly every St. Joe's function, was particularly fond of the music last night at the well attended affair. Special thanks to the folks at Bourbon Blue: New Orleans Restaurant in Philadelphia!
